Amsel~Haus  German Shepherds
Quality since 1983
In 1983, I purchased my first German Shepherd, Saudi.  She was a solid white.  I trained her to do everything known to man!  She had a vocabulary of over 100 words.  She did scent discrimination, basic household tasks (such as turning lights on and off, getting beverages from the refrigerator, picking up dropped items...)  I competed with her in AKC obedience.  She also competed in conformation (in a private White German Shepherd Club).

In 1984, I purchased my second German Shepherd, Raven.  She was an East German red sable.  I trained her to do bite work, tracking and obedience.

In the late 1980's Raven was killed by a car, while chasing a cat.   Saudi went on to become my son's best friend; and in the late 1990's passed away of old age.

Through the years I have bred both the white German Shepherd and the German-bred German Shepherd.  As time went on, my breeding became more focused on the German dogs, and I began to gravitate to the darker dogs with solid black and dark sables being my preference.

Presently, we are no longer breeding German Shepherds.  It has been a very difficult decision, because I love raising puppies and I love the German Shepherd breed.  My decision is primarily based in the present economy.  There are too many people loosing their jobs, loosing their homes, and going through very difficult times.  Unfortunately, the dogs are the one to suffer.  Countless dogs have been surrendered to local shelters.   As a breeder who is dedicated to taking back any Amsel~Haus dog, for any reason... I realize that I will not be able to continue to honor that responsibility.

I don't know where the Lord will lead my breeding program, whether I will pick it up again someday or not.  It was a joy raising puppies!  We were truly blessed!
